Council worker charged with Grenfell Tower fraud

A council worker has been accused of stealing money intended for those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

Jenny McDonagh, who worked for Kensington and Chelsea Council, has been charged with two counts of fraud by abuse of power.

A statement from Scotland Yard said: 'The charges relate to having obtained money intended for those affected by the tragedy while being neither a survivor nor a bereaved family member herself.'

Ms McDonagh will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later this morning facing one charge of theft by employee and one of money laundering.
