Council tax goes up by £10bn in five years

England's council tax bill has gone up by more than £10bn in five years, new government data has revealed.

The tax will bring in £46.8bn in 2026-27 compared to £36.3bn in 2022-23 according to figures released by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
