Four members of staff at Leeds City Council have been arrested on suspicion of bribery offences.
West Yorkshire Police said its economic crime unit was conducting a ‘complex’ investigation into reported corruption offences in the region.
A total of nine people were arrested, all of whom have been bailed pending further enquiries.
The four council employees have been suspended from their roles, a spokesperson for the local authority confirmed.
The spokesperson said: ‘As the police investigation is ongoing, we are unable to comment further.’
