Salford City Council has issued £45,000 of fines to landlords in an effort to improve local housing conditions.

A review of the council’s Selective Licensing Scheme in Eccles, Barton, and Winton found 704 properties have been licensed under the five-year scheme.

The scheme has helped resolve tenant complaints and improve landlord engagement and support wider enforcement efforts.

The council reports it has issued civil penalties amounting to £45,250 against landlords failing to comply.
