Gloucestershire County Council has completed its trial of four different pothole-filling machines declaring that they ‘all have their strengths’.

The council’s battle of the pothole repair machines saw the Roadmender, Bobcat, the Spray Injection Patching Machine, and the JCB Pothole Pro pitted against one another.

The local authority concluded that the machines all have their strengths and are suited to different sites and road conditions.

However, it said the Roadmender performed well for quality and speed of repairs as well as environmental impact.

In a statement, the council also added it will continue to use a Spray Injection Patching machine and a Bobcat to make repairs.

Council leader Cllr Stephen Davies said: ‘We’re using new technology to transform highways services. I’m delighted with the results of the trial, and we’ll continue to innovate because we’re dedicated to improving your streets.

‘Our highways teams are working day and night resurfacing roads across the county to create better journeys for everyone in Gloucestershire.’
