The public have been invited to have their say on whether to create a combined county authority for Devon.

Torbay Council said the combined authority would not mean removing or merging local councils and would not require a mayor for Devon and Torbay.

The CCA would be a formal partnership of elected members drawn from the councils of Devon and Torbay together with representatives from business and education.

People are being invited to say how they think the CCA would work, the powers it would have and the functions it would be responsible for.

These include investment in local economic growth, delivering affordable housing, improving public transport, and meeting net zero ambitions.

The six-week consultation on a draft proposal was launched this week.

Torbay Council leader David Thomas said he wanted people to use their voice and be part of 'change for our communities.'

The results of the consultation will be considered by both councils in April.
