Plans for a new Chinese embassy development at the Royal Mint Court have been backed by the Planning Inspectorate.

The complex is set to be developed at the former Royal Mint buildings, situated near the Tower of London.

During a public inquiry in February, residents expressed concerns about the proposal, which was previously stopped by the Conservative Government due to warnings about the site’s location.

However, the deputy prime minister and housing secretary, Angela Rayner, is set to provide the final approval for the plans in advance of September this year.

Following the Planning Inspectorate’s support for the scheme, Shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick has suggested a Judicial Review of the proposal due to national security concerns, according to The Telegraph.
