Councils have said they ‘urgently’ need more powers and resources after being tasked with inspecting funeral directors.
Following the arrests of two people on suspicion of fraud and prevention of a decent burial in Hull, ministers have written to chief executives outlining ‘concerns about the potentially widespread nature of the issues’ in the ‘largely unregulated’ sector.
