Birmingham City Council has temporarily waived charges for residents who require help with rat infestations during the bin strikes.

The council introduced charges for the service last year as part of the effort to stabilise its finances after declaring effective bankruptcy.

However, the local authority has now put a temporary halt on charges relating to rat infestations in gardens and houses in light of the ongoing industrial action.
