Brighton and Hove councillors will vote on plans for more than 200 new council homes next week after concerns over water run-off were addressed.
The council says the £87 million scheme will offer 212 homes plus sports pitches, a skate park, public spaces and community buildings on an eight-acre site to the east of Lewes Road.
Southern Water asked for details of the final drain designs, a piling risk assessment and a hydrogeological risk assessment before any ‘enabling’ work starts.
The company said it accepted the proposed use of a ‘geotextile membrane’ instead of an oil filter to deal with water run-off from new roads and car parks.
The council has been working on plans to revamp the site off Hodshrove Road and Hodshrove Lane for several years.
The proposed buildings include blocks of flats up to eight storeys high and a row of eight semi-detached houses. Altogether 15 homes will be wheelchair accessible.
