Bradford saw thousands of visitors descend on the city for the launch of its year as UK City of Culture.
Around 200 performers, including aerialists, an orchestra, a community choir, and the magician Steven Frayne – formerly known as Dynamo – took part in the Rise outdoor launch event.
Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, the leader of Bradford Council, commented: ‘It's the start of what is going to be a spectacular year where we really demonstrate what Bradford's all about – that we're a big bold ambitious place that's worth investment and it's all about creating jobs and a future for our young people.’
