Bournemouth is set to become the first place in the UK to gain a 5G network after being chosen as a 'test bed' destination for the mobile coverage.
Ordnance Survey will lead a consortium to develop a new mapping and planning tool in the town.
Councillor John Beesley, leader of Bournemouth Council, said: ‘We are delighted to work with Ordnance Survey to provide a test bed environment for the tool and support the government’s aims to become a world leader in 5G technology.
‘Bournemouth’s digital and creative sector is a key priority for the council and we recognise that supporting new technologies such as 5G is fundamental in continuing to build our digital infrastructure, leading to long term economic growth and creating the best possible place for people to live, work and play.’
