Former Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson was turned away from his local polling station yesterday after forgetting to bring valid ID.

New rules requiring photo ID to vote were introduced by the former PM’s government in the Elections Act 2022.

The change was rolled out last year in time for the May 2023 local elections.

The former PM later returned with valid ID to cast his ballot in South Oxfordshire, where voters were choosing a police and crime commissioner.
