Councils are boosting the number of call centre advisors being hired, due to increased enquiries about the bedroom tax, according to the latest recruitment trends in local government.
The Professional Talent Spotlight from Badenoch & Clark also shows that welfare reforms have lead to an increase in the number of benefits assessors being employed.
Claire Carter, associate director, housing, local government & charity, at Badenoch & Clark, said: ‘There has been a boost in the hiring of contact centre advisors needed to handle an increase in general enquiries from tenants concerning the bedroom tax.’
Last month, the report warned the bedroom tax was also leading to increased demand for void professionals as more social housing tenants downsize their property.
