Art charity announces £2m to support museums and galleries

Museums and art galleries are to receive a much needed funding boost to help them weather the impact of Covid-19.

The Art Fund, the national fundraising charity for art, has announced that £2m will be made available in additional funding through grants and strategic partnerships to support reopening.

The announcement has been made in response to the Art Fund’s Covid-19 Impact Report, which drew on the expertise of hundreds of museum directors and professionals.

‘The future of our museums and galleries, which are so vital to society, is far from certain,’ said Jenny Waldman, the director of the Art Fund.

‘Art Fund is putting every effort into helping museums through the current crisis, informed by our recent report into what our museums and galleries need, and following the exceptional immediate response from public funders which provided a lifeline for many organisations.’
