Westmorland and Furness Council has revealed that its garden bin fee scheme has accumulated £620,000 more than anticipated.
As part of the initiative rolled out in April, the council has been charging £60 for garden waste bin collections.
It saw roughly 42,491 subscriptions purchased by residents, with a report revealing that this was roughly 10,000 more than expected.
Furthermore, income generated from the scheme totalled at £2.5m, which was 32% higher than the local authority had thought it would be.
