The chief executive of South Lanarkshire Council, Cleland Sneddon, has announced he is to retire at the end of the year.
Mr Sneddon, who is also chairman of the Scottish branch of senior officers' group Solace, will step down at the end of the year.
He joined South Lanarkshire as chief executive officer in 2019 from Argyll and Bute.
Mr Sneddon's 34 years in local government has included roles at Motherwell DC, Aberdeen City Council, Strathclyde Regional Council, Clydesdale DC and Midlothian Council.
