Rent arrears surge

Four in five council landlords have reported growing rent arrears over the past year, according to the findings of a new survey.

A report by ARCH (Association of Retained Council Housing) and NFA (National Federation of arms-length management organisations) found 85% of respondents reported higher rent arrears compared to last year.

The report said the amount tenants owed rose by 11% to more than £60m as the cost of living crisis hit.
