Reform UK-led Nottinghamshire County Council has reportedly lifted a ban on a local newspaper after legal threats.

Council leader Cllr Mick Barton had barred the Nottingham Post and its sister site Nottinghamshire Live from having access to the council due to its local government reorganisation coverage.

On Wednesday, Law firm CMS LLP wrote to the authority on behalf of Reach Midlands Media Limited, the publisher of the outlets, claiming the ban has no legal foundation.

The council's team manager for litigation, Geoff Russell, responded to the letter on Thursday and said it will now provide the Post with press releases and invite them to council events, according to the BBC.
