Recognition for council pair in Queen's Birthday Honours

The leader and former chief executive of a district council have both received awards in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Former South Norfolk DC chief executive, Sandra Dinneen, and current leader, Cllr John Fuller, who is also chair of the District Councils' Network, received OBEs.

In a list notable for the lack of awards for council officers and members, the only other chief executive to receive an OBE is David Parr, of Halton BC.

The former leader of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Tim Warren, who lost out to the Lib Dem landslide in May, received a CBE.

A CBE also goes to Michael Galloway, former director of city development at Dundee City Council, with OBEs for Alistair Cunningham, director of growth, investment and place at Wiltshire Council, and Cllr Narinder Kooner, of Birmingham City Council.

The list of MBEs included Cllr Keith Baker, of Wokingham BC, Jennifer Stephens, chief officer for adult care and health at Devon CC, Cllr Fleur de Rhé-Philipe of Wiltshire Council, and Cllr David Williams, of Merton LBC. Director Robin Townsend and network operations manager Simon Rowe, both from Wiltshire Council, also received MBEs.
