Responding to evolving market needs and increased competition, Lucy Zodion has undertaken a complete refresh of its photocell range, addressing key customer demands for enhanced performance, reliability, and sustainability. The HAWK3 range delivers all this and more, offering a fit-and-forget solution for today’s highways and street lighting networks.

Designed with your needs in sight

The introduction of HAWK3 reflects Lucy Zodion’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. As John Fox, Managing Director, explains: 'HAWK3 is the result of listening, learning, and delivering. We understand the pressures our customers face — from sustainability goals to operational efficiencies — and we’ve developed a product that meets and exceeds these demands. It’s a significant step forward for our business and the industry.'

Revolutionary design, unmatched accuracy

HAWK3 features fully recyclable components, supporting cradle-to-cradle sustainability principles and minimising waste.

Key technical highlights include:

• Highly accurate digital switching, avoiding the tolerance issues found in analogue systems

• Switching delay, to prevent irregular illumination or de-illumination

• Intelligent relay output switchover detection

• Frosted cone for enhanced light dispersion and reduced environmental interference

• Moulded gasket, improving dimensional accuracy, durability, and recyclability

• Coloured identification bands for easier installation tracking and engineer identification

Using a phototransistor over a photodiode boosts sensitivity and accuracy while simplifying circuit design. Combined with laser marking for labelling — eliminating adhesives and printing waste — the HAWK3 range leads the market in sustainability, performance, and ease of use.

A trusted solution for highways and street lighting

HAWK3 is designed for 3-pin and 5/7-pin NEMA socket types, ensuring broad compatibility across highway lighting applications. The product’s robust build, refreshed design, and cradle-to-cradle recyclability demonstrate Lucy Zodion’s leadership in creating technically advanced and environmentally responsible solutions.

Chris Dumon, Operations Director at Lucy Zodion, adds: 'The development of HAWK3 has been a journey of improvement across design, production, and sustainability. By bringing together enhanced digital precision, fewer components, and simplified assembly, we’re delivering a product that offers customers a genuine step forward in performance and reliability.'
