Hackney chief to stand down

Mark Carroll is to step down as chief executive of Hackney LBC at the end of next month.

He was appointed in 2021 and has previously held roles at Essex CC, the Home Office and the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The council's director of legal, democratic and electoral services, Dawn Carter-McDonald, will take over as interim chief executive.

Ms Carter-McDonald has been in local government for more than 20 years and joined Hackney’s corporate leadership team in 2020.
