Fowles to lead joint approach
Partnership working has taken a major step forward in Swindon, with the new PCT chief also becoming the council’s housing and adult social care director.
Caroline Fowles has been chosen to straddle the health and local authority sectors – and both the council and PCT (primary care trust) are optimistic about the appointment, while Ms Fowles recognises the opportunities for joint working.
‘I know the PCT and borough council share the same high aspirations for improving health and wellbeing and for delivering quality services,’ she said.
Chief executive of the council, Gavin Jones, added he was confident Ms Fowles – who is currently the chief of Cheltenham and Tewkesbury PCT – would help the council to make even more improvements to the services provided for local people.
In London, the project board for the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey clinical strategy has outlined the consultation process regarding future healthcare services for the boroughs.
The project, which draws together the three councils and local health authorities, has identified 10 scenarios for development of services for initial consideration by patient, public and clinical engagement groups.
