Liverpool is using the leaves it clears from the streets to enrich soil and protect plants and shrubs in the city’s parks.
Special leaf-blowing machinery is being employed to clear the city’s streets of fallen leaves, with 500 tonnes of leaves expected to be collected by Christmas.
Martin Joyce, managing director of Enterprise-Liverpool, said: ‘This is our first step in recycling street cleansing waste and we are delighted with the amount of leaves collected so far.’
