The future of Local Government Association (LGA) chief executive Mark Lloyd today hangs in the balance as the new Labour-led regime considers a raft of changes. 

It is believed the political leadership of the association is keen to beef up its lobbying power in the run up to the General Election and is thought to be keen for a change of managerial leader. 

The MJ understands Mr Lloyd, who has been LGA chief executive since November 2015, was at one stage mooted to take on a role as part of the improvement panel at troubled Birmingham City Council.
