Medway Council has launched a new initiative to celebrate the achievements of local children.

Parents, carers, school staff and community members are being encouraged to nominate children aged between seven and 11 who have ‘done something amazing, overcome challenges or made a difference to their school or local community’.

Winners of a Medway Young Citizen Award will receive a personalised certificate.

The local authority’s portfolio holder for children’s services, Adam Price, said: ‘I think this is a brilliant initiative to celebrate our amazing children and young people in Medway.

‘It is really important to recognise our children and young people for their achievements.’
