East Riding of Yorkshire Council has commissioned a new sculpture trail in honour of JRR Tolkien, the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
The author spend nearly two decades in the area after being invalided home with trench fever following the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
Cllr Barbara Jefferson said the trail, which was commissioned with Route Yorkshire Coast, ‘not only celebrates a cherished literary legacy but also positions the Holderness region on both national and international stages, promising to invigorate the local visitor economy and attract a growing number of tourists in the coming years.’
