Academics have called for an overhaul of the Office for Local Government (Oflog), including making it independent from Whitehall.
Severing ties between the watchdog and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is a central recommendation of the new report Equipping Local Government to Deliver National and Local Priorities, published today by Birmingham University's Institute of Local Government Studies (INLOGOV).
