£14.2m deal
Amec has bought the French nuclear engineering company, ATM Enterprise, for £14.2m.
The support services company, which is also involved in the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Woolwich Arsenal extension, will use the purchase to strengthen its SPIE nuclear services division, whose clients include EdF and Areva.
ATM Enterprise, formerly Game Nucleaire SAS, was bought from joint venture company Peroue Spie Capital SA, in which Amec has a 49% holding, for €20.5m.
The French company employs 620 people and had a turnover of £28m (€41m) in 2005.
The tunnelling of the DLR extension was officially started by London mayor, Ken Livingstone, earlier this month.
Amec is designing and constructing the 2.5km extension, which is part of Transport for London’s £10bn investment programme. Chief executive Sir Peter Mason said: ‘It is an honour to be instrumental in delivering such an important link in London’s transport network, which will serve Londoners for years to come, as well as being a crucial link in delivery of the 2012 Olympics.’
In the past, Amec has worked with both Manchester and Newcastle city councils on regeneration projects.
