A ‘new generation’ of music hubs will receive £101m to provide music education to young people across England.
From September, 43 hub lead organisations will receive £76m over the academic year to create partnerships, including with councils and schools, to coordinate music education across local areas.
A further £25m, delivered over two years, will go towards new musical instruments, equipment and technology, including some instruments for young people with special education needs or disabilities.
The project is delivered by Arts Council England on behalf of the Department for Education.
School standards minister Damian Hinds said: ‘Our newly announced hub lead organisations will ensure every child across the country has the chance to develop a love for music, whether it’s through singing, learning to play an instrument or creating their own music.’
