An online blunder has seen Tavistock Town Council advertising for a ‘general hand job vacancy’, prompting sniggering on social media.
Uploaded onto the town hall’s Facebook page, the full time contract would pay £13,715 to £14,338 for 37 hours of ‘flexible’ working per week.
After widespread hilarity on Twitter, the ad was corrected to ‘General Hand Level 1 Job vacancy’.
In reality the role would involve ‘the manual set up and dismantling of events for the Town Hall and Pannier Market’ alongside maintenance, cover for bar staff during events and minor ground maintenance.
