Over £4m is being delivered by Charnwood Borough Council to support local facilities and public spaces.
In a statement today, the council confirmed that it plans to invest roughly £4.3m across the next two to three years to enhance leisure centres, parks, CCTV, and community facilities.
As part of the investment programme, £1.8m will be targeted towards boosting the efficiency and operations of the local authority’s three leisure centres. A further £1.6m will be allocated for the development of paths and play areas in parks and open spaces, and more than £500,000 is to be earmarked for CCTV network upgrades.
Additionally, a cash injection of around £250,000 will be dedicated towards the reopening of the disused toilets in Southfields park, with a separate sum of roughly £150,000 being spent on Loughborough Town Hall and its catering facilities.
The council’s leisure centres in Loughborough, Syson, and Mountsorrel will benefit from improvements to their heating systems, power management, and pool plant machinery, while the CCTV network investment will allow for the delivery of higher-quality cameras and widened coverage in new areas.
Cllr Jewel Miah, leader of the council, said: ‘This investment demonstrates our commitment to maintaining and improving the facilities that residents use every day.
‘Whether it is upgrading our leisure centres, improving parks and open spaces, strengthening our CCTV network or providing important facilities like public toilets, these projects will benefit communities across Charnwood and help ensure our public assets remain fit for the future.’
