West Lindsey District Council is considering implementing a big bin hire scheme on a permanent basis.
Following positive feedback from residents who had used the trial hire service, the local authority has recommended that the trial is introduced permanently, according to the BBC.
The scheme enables residents to hire bins that exceed the size of standard wheelie bins by up to six times, at prices of £50 to £60 per week for 660-litre and 1,100-litre bins, respectively.
The bins are suitable for household waste disposal, whilst also accommodating materials such as plastic and wood.
A report from the council confirmed that 95% of those who participated in the scheme gave the service a four or five-star rating afterwards, and the local authority is set to discuss the recommendations today.
Alan Bowley, Interim Director of Operational and Commercial Services said: ‘Although a decision around the future of our big bin hire is yet to be made, we were delighted to hear the positive feedback from residents who made use of the trial.
‘The innovative service proved really useful for residents who are unable to visit their local household waste recycling centres, reflecting our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our community.’
