Talks begin at South Lanarkshire Council to settle equal pay claims

Talks have begun in an attempt to settle an equal pay dispute at South Lanarkshire Council.

The council has confirmed it will meet with staff representatives over the next three months and has postponed the Employment Tribunal hearing which was due to take place next month.

Eddie McAvoy, leader of South Lanarkshire Council, said: ‘I am pleased that there have been positive moves on this issue and I look forward to further progress being made.’

The council has previously lost a legal bid to block a freedom of information request on its pay scales.
