North Lincolnshire Council has rejected the idea of a unitary authority as part of local government reorganisation in Lincolnshire due to a ‘clear lack of support’ from residents.
The council says it has engaged in discussions with the local community, stakeholders, and town and parish councils and found there was no support for a unitary authority - or what the council calls a 'super council'.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said he had also received support for this decision from the local MPs.
‘It is a fact that we are one of the highest performing councils in the country and we are keen to make sure that we build on this success,’ he added.
