Liverpool is set to lose five councillors as the boundary commission redraws the political map.
The Local Government Boundary Commission has published its final recommendations for how many wards the city should be divided into.
The independent commission concluded that residents should be represented by 85 councillors, which is five fewer than the current arrangements.
According to the recommendations, there will be 64 wards representing 46 single-councillor wards, 15 two-councillor wards and three three-councillor wards.??
Publishing the recommendations, Professor Colin Mellors, chair of the commission, said: ‘We are very grateful to people in Liverpool. We looked at all the views they gave us. They helped us improve our earlier proposals.
‘We believe the new arrangements will guarantee electoral fairness while maintaining local ties.’
Just over 400 local residents and organisations provided the commission with feedback to help decide the new wards.
