Sevenoaks District Council has become the first local authority to be awarded the Platinum standard by Investors in People (IIP).
The standard is designed to highlight the very best employers and has only been awarded to four other organisations so far in the country.
'This is a testament to our commitment to provide the best possible services,' said council leader, cllr Peter Fleming.
'We are in the people business and to be recognised for our people management is an important achievement. Motivated and talented staff are essential to the future of the council and providing quality services to residents.'
The council said it had tried to empower staff as much as possible by developing its own Leadership Masterclass and Personal Best training programmes.
