Communities and faith minister Barnoness Warsi has resigned from the Government, citing disagreement with current policy on Gaza.
In a tweet this morning, the former chair of the Conservative Party said she could ‘no longer support Govt [sic] policy’.
The first Muslim woman to serve as a full cabinet minister, Warsi was appointed to the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in September 2012.
She tweeted a few minutes ago:
With deep regret I have this morning written to the Prime Minister & tendered my resignation. I can no longer support Govt policy on #Gaza
