The County Councils Network (CCN) has launched a new business plan, pledging to do more than ever for member councils as new administrations take shape following last week's local elections.
The plan is published as political control changed hands across six-member council areas, with the CCN committing to step up support for newly elected councillors navigating a demanding first few weeks in office.
Central to the new plan is the launch of the Stronger Counties, Stronger Communities campaign, which aims to push back against what the CCN characterises as urban-focused national policymaking and ensure reforms recognise the contribution of county and unitary councils.
Support outlined in the plan includes research on key issues, and expanded advocacy across finance, adult social care, SEND, children's services, homelessness and leisure.
CCN Chief Executive Simon Edwards said the network would be ‘doubling down’ on its commitment to represent members on the national stage.
