Bradford drew in roughly £51m of investment during its UK City of Culture year.
The budget was spent on a ‘world class programme of events, exhibitions and installations’, according to Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council.
‘This has had real impact on our residents and communities as well as attracting visitors and putting Bradford in the international spotlight’, she added.
Further investment into the city’s transport connectivity was attracted throughout the year, with the Government providing £35m to support the introduction of Platform 0 at Forster Square station, allowing for an increase in daily train services between Bradford and London.
Early evaluations of audience data reveal that an estimated 3 million people attended the events, Bradford Culture Company has found, with the final figure predicted to be much higher.
