Bolton Council has selected a developer for its £200m regeneration scheme.
The project will involve the transformation of Crompton Place Shopping Centre and could reportedly deliver as many as 340 homes, as well as 80,000 sq ft of office space, 5,000 sq ft of leisure facilities, and a hotel.
Cabinet members chose a developer for the scheme last week, with council leader Cllr Nick Peel confirming that the decision had been made following a ‘highly competitive selection process’.
With demolition due to begin this year, the 1.55 hectare space is set to become one of the largest inner town developments in Britain, according to Manchester Evening News.
For legal reasons, the council is not yet able to reveal the developer’s name, but it is reported that property investment and development business, MEPC, has been selected by the local authority to drive the regeneration project forward.
Cllr Peel added: ‘This developer has a very impressive track record of delivering major multi-million-pound developments in some of the UK’s biggest cities.’
