The Welsh Government has announced £11.2m in additional funding to help local authorities recover from the severe storms that struck communities across Wales in late 2025.
The bulk of the funding — £10.2m — will be allocated in 2026-27 to Carmarthenshire and Monmouthshire councils to support their recovery from flooding in November 2025.
A further £1m will be provided to Merthyr Tydfil Council this financial year to cover the ongoing costs of fixing a sinkhole caused by Storm Bert.
The announcement builds on £2.5m already made available to Monmouthshire following Storm Claudia in November 2025.
Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government Jayne Bryant said the storms had caused real hardship across Wales, adding: ‘no council should be left to bear those costs alone.’
She said the Welsh Government stood with residents in the three affected areas as they continued to recover and rebuild.
