Warrington Borough Council has launched a public consultation to help decide on the boundaries for new council wards.
In a statement published today, the council confirmed that the 10-week consultation will use local views to inform proposals for the new boundaries, ensuring the wards ‘reflect local communities and identities’.
According to the council, an electoral review is being completed to ensure each local councillor represents roughly an equivalent number of electors, following the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE)’s decision to increase Warrington BC’s total number of councillors from 58 to 60.
Andrew Scallan, Deputy Chair of the LGBCE, said: ‘By telling us about where you live and where you access local services, it will help us to create appropriate and meaningful boundaries.
‘It might be something as straightforward as where you go for shops, schools or a sporting venue, whether you see a road, park or river as a dividing feature or the heart of a community, or which areas have joint projects.’
