Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Thanet District Council have each received a C3 consumer grade from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
Judgements published today found serious failings in both councils' delivery of the consumer standards.
At Nuneaton and Bedworth, RSH said significant improvement was needed on repairs, health and safety, and transparency and accountability, including a failure to tell the regulator promptly about material issues. It also found weaknesses in meeting tenants' diverse needs and handling complaints.
At Thanet, the most significant problems concerned the quality and condition of homes and a failure to show timely, appropriate action against anti-social behaviour. RSH said the council met expectations on repairs, health and safety, tenancy services, and transparency and accountability, but identified weaknesses needing further action.
RSH Deputy Chief Executive Kate Dodsworth said: ‘Landlords are responsible for providing safe, decent homes and listening to residents.
'Our inspections found serious failings that are having a real impact on tenants. Where standards fall short, we will hold landlords to account and expect swift and sustained improvement.’
