The Eco Technology Show is firmly established as the UK's premier event showcasing ideas and innovations from across Europe that promote sustainability. The Show focusses on practical ways to achieve savings and deliver genuine benefits to businesses, cities and communities.
Not surprisingly, the 2014 event has attracted Greg Barker, Minister of State at the Department of Energy & Climate Change as a keynote speaker.
The Show focuses on: energy management, build, transport, technology & resource efficiency.
Entry is free and VIP tickets for fast track entry and access to the VIP bar are available to Local Government News readers.
Nicola Gunstone, commercial director at The Eco Technology Show comments: “The powerful drivers of carbon reduction, the need to tackle fuel poverty, spiraling energy costs and increasing consumer demand have combined to drive market growth. Eco technology is no longer on the margin – its mainstream business now.
"The products and services we’ll be showcasing provide significant opportunities for improving resource efficiency, energy management and making real differences to the towns and cities we live in. For anyone with focus on energy management, new build or maintaining, improving existing buildings, low carbon transport and resource efficiency, a visit to The Eco Technology Show will be a day well spent."
An extensive seminar programme of over 60 keynotes & talks kicks off with a keynote speech from Greg Barker MP, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change who will reaffirm the government’s commitment to reaping the economic benefits of shifting to a lower carbon economy; a subject at the heart of the Show’s agenda. On a practical level, members of his team at DECC will explain how the domestic RHI is going to roll out.
The Show will provide a platform for a big debate on our energy future including the implications of fracking, nuclear and renewable energy, and this will be led by Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas.
Other key highlights of the conference programme include a review of how one local authority is making money from investing in renewable energy infrastructure by John Harrison, Finance Director at Peterborough City Council. Edward Clarke, Analyst and joint author of the ‘Low Carbon Cities’ report at Centre for Cities, will speak on the tools cities have at their disposal to encourage low carbon practices and how they can use them.
A major endorsement of the quality for the exhibitors and speakers comes from representatives of the UK’s Sustainable Cities Network, who have chosen the Eco Technology Show for their summer meeting.
With interest in electric vehicles on the rise, the show’s transport zone will feature many of the latest vehicles. Headline debutants include BMW’s electric i3 and i8 hybrid supercar, Mitsubishi’s Outlander - the world’s first plug-in SUV well as the ground-breaking Tesla Model S and a range of electric bikes.
Visitors to the Eco Technology Show will be able to test-drive some of these vehicles along Brighton seafront, while learning about sustainable fleet solutions in seminars and networking events.
The Eco Technology Show will be open from 9.30am-5pm on Thursday 26 June and 9.30am-4.30pm on Friday 27 June. For your free VIP ticket quote Local Government News when asked how you heard about the Show.
