The deputy leader of Worcestershire County Council is considering legal action against the Conservative Party chairman after being suspended from the party.
Cllr Adam Kent was suspended following his decision to form a coalition with the Green Party to take control of the council from a minority Reform UK administration.
In a statement, Cllr Kent said the party had stressed his suspension ‘does not imply any assumption of wrongdoing and is merely a neutral and precautionary step.’
However, he accused party chairman Kevin Hollinrake of acting ‘contrary to the party's procedures’ by sending a letter to the entire Conservative membership and posting on social media making remarks he described as ‘false, defamatory and wholly inaccurate.’
Cllr Kent confirmed the matter is now with his lawyers.
