A public consultation on proposals to close council-run care homes in Lancashire should not be ‘rushed’, opposition members say.
Reform UK-led Lancashire County Council launched a consultation on the future of adult social care services which involves a review of the viability of 10 facilities.
Opponents have criticised some of the information that has been included in the review, including building condition survey results that are five years old.
Independent councillor Azhar Ali reportedly said: ‘New condition surveys are now being commissioned – that'll take time, but I think the actual decision should be that we should stop this review and get all the information together before we start to consider what steps we should take.’
Labour group leader Mark Clifford added that the consultation has been ‘rushed’.
Cllr Graham Dalton said that ‘no decisions’ had been made about the future of any of these services.
‘We are consulting to find out people's views to help us make the best decision when the issue is considered by cabinet.’
