A lobby group has called on councils to increase motorhome and overnight parking facilities.
The Campaign for Real Aires (CAMpRA) has highlighted the rising demand for motorhome tourism in the UK, urging more councils to implement trial periods for overnight camping.
The group emphasised the benefits for local economies, tourism and businesses, all of which are boosted by motorhome users.
According to CAMpRA, the demand for motorhome and caravan tourism has increased following Brexit and the introduction of travel restrictions in the Schengen area.
Steve Haywood, managing director of CAMpRA told The Independent: ‘UK towns and cities … could benefit hugely by embracing motorcaravans’, rather than ‘suffering the cost of enforcement and bans, not to mention the loss of potential revenue to businesses’.
‘Every council that has operated a 12-month trial aire has been successful and made the overnight parking permanent’, he added.
