Ministers seek 'holding direction' powers

The Government is seeking to gain more powers to prevent councils refusing planning permission.

Under proposed amendments to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, ministers would be able to issue ‘holding directions' to stop councils rejecting planning applications while they considered using call-in powers.
