Local museums across England are set to benefit from a share of a £20m Government fund designed to revitalise civic museums and enhance community engagement.
The Museum Renewal Fund, which will support 75 civic museums, forms part of the wider £270 million Arts Everywhere Fund, announced by the Culture Secretary in February 2025. The initiative aims to safeguard collections, expand public access, and ensure museums continue to play a vital role in local communities.
Museums Minister Baroness Twycross said: ‘The Museum Renewal Fund is contributing to the delivery of our Plan for Change. It ensures much-loved civic museums can remain open and continue to provide opportunities for future generations to learn about our shared heritage and how their local community has shaped our national story.’
